What does a Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture treatment include?

Can Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture help me?


Cosmetic Acupuncture works most effectively when the body is in a state of balance and good health. This means that wound healing is fast, Qi and blood is abundant, and healing can be efficient.

You may be asked to complete a course of Acupuncture prior to your Cosmetic Acupuncture to address any health conditions which impair wound healing and immunity.

Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture can treat fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, redness and acne prone skin.

Are there any Contraindications for Cosmetic Acupuncture?


There are some definite contraindications for the treatment of Cosmetic Acupuncture, these will be outlined in the initial consultation. Some contraindications are less serious and can be addressed, treated and re-evaluated for suitability for cosmetic acupuncture prior to starting cosmetic Acupuncture.

If you have cancer, very compromised immunity, are trying for a baby, pregnant or breast feeding then you are contraindication to cosmetic acupuncture.

Does Cosmetic Acupuncture hurt?


No. But it is normal to feel the insertion of the needles, but this shouldn’t be painful, although some areas of the face around the nose, mouth & eyes can be a little more sensitive.

We can sometimes be more sensitive to the needle sensation if we are feeling particularly rundown, menstruating or have been struggling to sleep.

What are the side effects of Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Any side effects of Cosmetic Acupuncture, like, mild bruising or erythema post treatment may occur and will not have any lasting negative damage.

All Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and flexible. Facial Acupuncture needles are especially tiny, with some being inserted with the help of tweezers. Although the face is a vascular part of the body and bruising around the eyes is always possible, oral Arnica can help to reduce and superficial bleeding.

Some people may feel slightly lightheaded after a cosmetic Acupuncture session, this is due to movement of Qi and blood up towards the head and should not last much longer post treatment.

Headache. Those prone to headaches may, post session have a slight headache, this is normally prevented with adequate grounding treatments prior to the session.
